Soooo... What exactly is the flood of all this gatekeeping dressed up as outrage over "complaints" & "anger" if not your specific preferences and wants?

.

What gatekeeping... a thread is about what products you are excited for, you (general) decide to instead go on a negative diatribe and rant about WotC and D&D in said thread... No one is stopping you from participating in the actual discussion... but actually address the topic as opposed to veering it into complaint territory for the 100th time. Is it gatekeeping to say hey this thread is about X (What you are actually excited about), it isn't really about Y (the complaints you fill every discussion thread with, regardless of what it is actually about concerning WotC and D&D)... can you chill with bringing Y up in every thread. I mean at least it might be more interesting if it wasn't like the same 5 or 6 people constantly restating what we all have already heard from them.

It's not about my preferences it's about being able to discuss D&D stuff without the co-opting of every thread by those who dislike D&D/WotC. I mean the whole purpose of the site is to foster discussion, but continuously doing this does nothing but shuts it down or disrupts the actual discussion.

Because negative opinions and arguments drive engagement now. Social media has trained us (and we in turn trained it) that you get more with napalm than you do with honey. Enworld is essentially doing that algorithmic thinking the old analog way.

I don't want to drag this thread any more off topic than the current round of argument about borrowed RPG design is already, but I think there is a wide gap between "Hey, the language rules in 2024 are a step backwards, what can be done to fix them?" and "WotC hasn't put out a good D&D product since 2004 and I haven't bought a single one in 21 years. Here is my opinion on the new PHB which I haven't read."
Which posts is this thread have done that? I haven't read any.

I have read a few that have said they weren't buying anything and gave reasons but nothing close to the hyperbole you're presenting.

None of the above is an option in the survey, and the OP encourages us to post about our choices. It seems some are upset that people are not happy with Wizbro and like to paint them with a rather broad brush. Some even suggesting they go play something else if they don't like the game as is.

If you (general) don't want to read Wizbro criticism the + threads may be just the thing.

Taking the use of the word "excited" in the thread title at its word... my vote was 'None'. Reason being that I do not get excited about gaming products.

Are there ones on the list I might pick up? Sure. Most likely the Eberron book, and the FR books I will glance through and see if I want either in case I decide to run another FR game at some point. But "interested" and "curious about" are not the same thing as "excited", thus my vote.

I don't think he was speaking specifically about this thread...A general trend being noticed on the boards was being discussed and I think it's clear this is what was being addressed...

Yep... nothing like that in this thread... Nothing like a totally off topic rant about... wait a minute...
I thought Sigil was gonna be explosive -- turned out to be a dud firecracker. I tried. I watched. I even spent a little USD. But ever since they took over D&D, WotC hasn't done anything I'd call interesting or innovative. Spelljammer was a great opportunity for WotC to do something fun and different with the rules set --- nothing.
I'll keep saying it: if Hasbro wasn't spending millions to keep D&D relevant it wouldn't be the most popular ttrpg. Shadowdark or Call of Cthulhu or Pathfinder (the most recent edition of D&D I really enjoyed) would be. I'm not excited about WotC doing anything because they haven't shown me they can produce exciting products.

P.S.: Hey? Remember the OGL fiasco and the AI fiasco and the Gleemax fiasco and the Pinkerton fiasco and the 4e/Dungeons of Warcraft fiasco and every other bad decision this company has made? Remember how we all said "NEVER AGAIN! BOYCOTT WOTC! BURN THEM WITH FIRE!"? Yet - here you all are again lining up to give WotC all your money and attention and loyalty. Me?

Not upset exhausted with the whinning. And yes it seems much more constructive to spend your energy finding a game you do like and investing in it vs. whinning. Do you disagree?

I don't have a problem reading it, I'm just lookking for some originality as opposed to the same talking points, or better yet factually false talking points that are troted out on a daily basis. Haters step your game up, seriously.

I have the three core books. I’m done, unless they come out with a Greyhawk adventure guide.

Not sure if they will but I hope they do, I’d purchase some more greyhawk based books as well.

They were asked about Greyhawk, since it is in the DMG, and they said, unfortunately, that they do not plan to go back to it. However, the people that said that are leaving shortly, so who knows. Maybe new management brings a new look at Greyhawk. However, I wouldn't hope to see anything for a year or two at best.

So all of this complaining about those unhappy with Wizbro is just a dog whistle designed to bait them to complain more?
Interesting.
