Yeah, I saw it last night and enjoyed it well enough. Surprisingly closer to being an Incredible Hulk sequel than a Captain America sequel.

The only thing that bothers me about Sam's journey is that I've never felt like Captain America needed to be some kind of inherited mantle to be passed on. Steve Rogers was Captain America, there didn't need to be a successor to the title, at least for any in-universe reason. Sam growing into his own role and not having to take on this baggage would have been better for him.

I liked where they landed on the "should he have taken the serum?" question, both in terms of how people relate to him and his personal journey. I don't think a superpowered Sam could have come to the resolution he did in the final battle.

I'm very much in the same boat here. Waited until it was on Disney+ to see it. Watched it last night. I really don't see what all the noise is about. It was a fun movie. Decent story. Decent characters. Fun fight scenes. What's not to like? Is it my favorite movie of all time? Well, no. But, that's not the bar for movies is it? It was a fun couple of hours and I would watch it again.

Yeah, that's about what I expected. Reminds me a lot of Solo. People carping about how it was a terrible movie that should never have been made, but, me and my girls watched it in the theater and we all really enjoyed it. Why did we enjoy it? Because all this world buildlng nerd wank that people seem to judge movies by is completely and utterly unimportant to people like me. I just don't care. Why wasn't Banner in this movie? Because he wasn't. End of story. Why did Falcon 2.0 have a suit? Because he did. I mean, good grief, Falcon 1.0 kept his suit? That millions of dollars of military tech and Falcon 1.0 walks out the door with it? And no one bats an eye. :erm:

It's easy to poke holes in movies. And, I'll be the first one to admit I watch Cinemasins after watching a lot of movies and giggle along. But, I never, ever judge the movie based on the criteria I see people tossing out here. The story was plausible, the acting was good, the action was good. I've certainly seen Marvel movies I liked a lot less.

Thanks for that honest assessment, @Hussar. I'm generally with you here. I liked Solo too. It's a long weekend thanks to King's Birthday on Monday, so I will most likely watch this new Captain America movie sometime in the next few days. I imagine I will find it perfectly enjoyable too.
